Case Study – Pilbara Iron Ore Miner – Standard Grader Blades

This case study centres on our customer’s strategic approach to mitigating the high wear rates and associated replacement costs of Ground Engaging Tools (G.E.T.) at a large scale iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The challenging conditions in this large-scale mine significantly degraded these tools, compelling our customer to scout for cost-efficient alternatives without compromising on quality and performance. To address this, the customer engaged Mining Wear Parts (MWP) to test which supplier’s grader blades performed best on this site. By sourcing parts directly from MWP, the customer aimed to achieve substantial cost savings, gain better control over their G.E.T. supply chain, and reduce reliance on third-party suppliers. Furthermore, this collaboration unveiled prospects of creating custom solutions specific to our customer’s project needs, unavailable with existing suppliers.
